Adrenochrome is an oxidation product of adrenaline (ephinephrine, norepinephrine).

It has achieved mythical status as a deliberately-ingested psychoactive -- boosted by H.S. Thompson's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. It is reputed to cause disorientation and hallucinations.
